Real Madrid are on the verge of securing a deal for Bayern Munich’s left-back, Alphonso Davies, according to reports from The Athletic.
The two clubs are said to have reached a verbal agreement, with Davies likely to join either as a free agent in 2025 or possibly as early as 2024, should Madrid negotiate a fee with Bayern.
The Canadian international’s contract with Bayern expires in 2025, but Madrid’s interest has led to intensified discussions, resulting in a tentative agreement.
Despite Bayern’s efforts to renew Davies’ contract, the player seems inclined towards a move to the Spanish capital.
While the exact transfer fee is yet to be determined, Madrid are expected to pay below Davies’ market value due to his contract situation.
However, Bayern are reportedly keen to keep the talented full-back and will continue negotiations to extend his stay.
Madrid faced competition from Barcelona and several Premier League clubs for Davies’ signature but seems to have won the race.
If the deal goes through, Davies will join Kylian Mbappé, who is also set to sign for Madrid in the summer.
