Francisco Lindor has been one of the major keys to the success of the New York Mets in 2022.
New York is 73-39, which is the second-best record in the National League.
Lindor is having himself quite a season too.
“Mr. Smile” as he is affectionately known is hitting .270 with 20 home runs and 81 RBI.
That RBI mark ties a single season record for Mets shortstops set by Jose Reyes.
It’s only mid-August and there is plenty of time left in the season.
Needless to say, it looks like Lindor is going to not only break Reyes’ record, but completely shatter it and set his own record.

Lindor Going For RBI Record
Lindor could reach 100 RBI this season if he stays hot.
He’s gotten close a couple of times.
He had 89 RBI in 2017 with the Cleveland Indians and 92 in 2018, so he’s no stranger to getting close to 100.
But to tie a franchise legend’s record with almost two full months remaining in the season is impressive.
Lindor is one of the best run producers in the game of baseball and is on pace to break Reyes’ record by a lot.
This Mets team has been a runaway train since the start of the season, and it’s thanks in large part to Lindor and his ability to drive in runs.
It would be something to see Lindor actually reach 100 RBI this season.
He’s certainly on pace to at least get somewhere close to it.
He has been a catalyst for this Mets ballclub and has really rebounded after a tough first season in Queens.
Now, he’s one of the key pieces that has helped turn the Mets into a true World Series contender.
