Arsenal’s defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is finalizing a new contract that will see his wages double to approximately £100,000 a week.
The 25-year-old Japanese star, who is currently recovering from an injury, is expected to return to action soon, at which point the new deal will be officially announced.
The move is reportedly part of Arsenal’s broader strategy of securing key players with new contracts, with Ben White also close to signing an extension.
Since last May, the club have successfully renewed contracts for Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, and Aaron Ramsdale, as well as Gabriel Martinelli 13 months ago.
This strategy, led by Arsenal’s Sporting Director Edu, is said to prioritizes rewarding players for their good performances and commitment to the club.
