Alvaro Morata has revealed that his decision to renew his contract at Atletico Madrid this season is paying off as planned.
The Spanish striker who has often faced criticism by fans, has silenced his critics this time, with an impressive start to the current campaign, scoring 10 goals in 10 games.
In a recent interview with Manu Carreno on El Larguero, Morata recalled the decision he made last summer that has reignited his career.
He said he had engaged in some discussions with his coach, Diego Simeone, and the club’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, before deciding to stay back at the club.
Morata said he needed to be sure he was needed in the team, before any further commitment.
Following the success of his meetings with the club’s management, Morata went ahead to reject several offers from clubs that came for him, including one from Saudi Arabia.
He chose to renew his contract with Atletico Madrid not once but twice, to help him and his team find an arrangement that worked better for both sides.
