FG declares Oct 1, 2024, public holiday for 64th Independence Day

The Federal Government has announced that Tuesday, October 1, 2024, will be a public holiday in celebration of Nigeria‘s 64th Independence Day.

In a statement made on behalf of the government, Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad on this significant occasion.

Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary, released a statement on Friday highlighting Dr. Tunji-Ojo’s commendation of the hardworking and patient citizens of Nigeria, assuring them that their efforts will not be overlooked.

Emphasizing the theme of the anniversary, the minister called for reflection on the contributions of “our heroes past” and urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from their legacy as they work toward future challenges.

He underscored that achieving the Nigeria of our dreams requires unity among citizens.

Wishing everyone a joyous Independence Day, Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to remain committed to the nation’s development.
