Blessing Agbomhere, the All Progressives Congress’s South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary, has announced his ambition to run for Edo State governor.
This is in keeping with his pledge to lower the state’s unemployment and poverty rates.
The Independent National Electoral Commission set September 21, 2024, as the date for the state’s governorship election, according to The PUNCH.
Since then, a few members of each of the state’s major political parties have announced their plans to run for office.
In Fugar, Ward 1, Etsako Central Local Government Area of the state, the APC chieftain announced his decision, according to a statement released by the Agbomhere Campaign Office on Friday.
Agbomhere clarified that he decided to run for office in order to improve the plight of the state’s residents and lead the state to unprecedented heights.
He went on to say that his desire to see the state reach an unprecedented level of economic prosperity and his sincere love for the people of the state are the true sources of his dedication to serve them.
The statement read, “In Fugar, Ward 1, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Agbomhere declared his intention to run for governor where he vowed to eliminate the massive poverty and unemployment in the state if he eventually obtains the ticket of his party, the All Progressives Congress and emerges governor.
“He said his commitment to serve the people of the state is borne out of genuine love and hunger to move the state from its current state of hopelessness and deprivation to an enviable height in economic prosperity.
“Agbomhere promised to put to use his wealth of experience in academics, the media, strategic leadership, and international connections to rescue, sweep, and reset Edo State by eliminating poverty through job creation which he said can be achieved through foreign direct investment in the state.”
