There are reports that the Argentine international is reportedly set to complete his move to La Liga side, Atletico Madrid. The 24-year-old is among players who joined City last summer and could become the latest to depart for a significant profit after achieving huge success with the Premier League Champions.
Julian Alvarez was a key part of the City team that won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League title. He made 54 appearances across all competitions for City last season, contributing 19 goals and 13 assists.
He also played a crucial role in Argentina’s triumph at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has won the Copa America twice. Atletico Madrid became interested in the Argentine following their decision to allow Samu Omorodion to Chelsea for €40 million.
The Blues had initially offered €32.5 million (£27.4m) plus add-ons for Omorodion in June which was rejected. The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Deportivo Alaves scoring nine goals and providing one assist to help them to a 10th-place finish in La Liga.
Chelsea are still in the conversation with Napoli for Victor Osimhen, a deal which will see Romelu Lukaku join Antonio Conte at the Naples. However, Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana could leave the Bridge if the deal sees the light of day.
