Manchester United managed a 2-0 victory against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round, securing their place in the fourth.

The match saw goals from Diogo Dalot in the 22nd minute and a penalty converted by Bruno Fernandes in the 74th minute.

The result has set them up for a potential fourth-round clash against Eastleigh or Newport, both non-league small fry.

United fielded a strong team for the game, taking now chances with second options players. This helped them control most part of the clash with Wigan, who currently sit 18th in League One after a points deduction.

Despite the comfortable win, Ten Hag noted the importance of maintaining focus in the FA Cup, acknowledging the motivation of lower-league teams in such competitions.

“Every game in the FA Cup, you have to play your best because every team is highly motivated.”
