Zamfara Police Rescue 52yrs Abducted Security Guard

Hassan Abdullahi, a 52-year-old security guard who was kidnapped on December 29 in Gusau, has been freed by Zamfara police.

The man was kidnapped on Friday at around 1.30 am, when gunmen attacked the home he was working at in Sabon Garin Damba, according to police spokeswoman Yazid Abubakar.

Abubakar claimed in a statement released on Friday that the armed men had broken into the home of Alhaji Kabiru Umar, a staff member at the Zamfara College of Art and Science in Gusau, and taken the security guard with them.

 “On receiving the information, the Divisional Police Officer of Damba Division mobilised a team of detectives for a search and rescue operation.

“They intercepted the abductors at the outskirts of Sabon Garin Damba and on sighting the police, the hoodlums fired the victim on his right hand and took to their heels with  possible gunshot wounds

“The victim was rescued and taken to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, and is responding to treatment,” the command spokesman added.

He claimed that citizens have received praise from Mr. Muhammad Shehu, Commissioner of Police, for promptly reporting the event to the authorities.

Shehu also expressed gratitude to the police officers for their prompt action, which resulted in the victim’s rapid rescue.

He promised that until order was restored, the command would keep up the fight against bandits and other criminal groups in the state.
