Walker Buehler is out for the season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers ace has been down with an elbow injury since June.
But yesterday, the Dodgers’ worst fears were realized when news broke that Buehler would miss the rest of the 2022 season.
Buehler will undergo elbow surgery on August 23 with famed Los Angeles orthopedist Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
Yesterday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shed a little bit of light on what happened with Buehler during his rehab.
Roberts said that during the team’s last homestand, Buehler felt discomfort in his elbow when throwing from 120 feet.
He also said that the Dodgers aren’t exactly sure what the injury is but that they will know more on August 23.

Buehler Out For The Season
Regardless of what the injury is, this is a huge blow for the Dodgers, especially after Buehler had begun throwing again and there was some hope that he could return later this season.
Now, that isn’t possible, and the Dodgers failing to address their pitching needs at the trade deadline looms large now.
They still have a solid top three with Julio Urias, Tony Gonsolin, and Tyler Anderson, but none of those guys are on the same level as Buehler.
This puts a bit of a damper on the Dodgers’ World Series chances.
While they still own the best record in all of baseball, it’s going to be hard for them once October comes, as they don’t really have a true ace as of now.
Having Andrew Heaney back helps fill a hole, but the rotation could be a problem going forward.
How long Buehler will be out is not yet known.
The Dodgers hope to have a clearer picture of the situation on the day of the surgery.
