Victor Osimhen scored the opening goal of the match, which t his goal tally to 15 for the season and ensured he received his bonus from Napoli, as agreed before the start of the 2023/24 season.
According to Napoli Online, a news outlet in Italy, the Nigerian footballer was set to receive a bonus of £125k if he scored 15 goals in the league.
Despite scoring 17 goals in all competitions this season, Osimhen’s league goal tally is lower than his tally for the previous season. However, this can be excused, as he missed some games due to injury and others due to his international duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The 25-year-old also made history by equalling Gonzalo Higuain’s record in the Serie A for Napoli. He became the third player in the history of the club to score against the same opponent in six consecutive games.
