Despite all the struggles they have endured as a team this season, the Chicago White Sox are still right in the thick of the playoff race.
They’re only two games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for the final American League Wild Card spot and sit just 2.5 games back of the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the AL Central division.
Injuries have taken out key players such as Lance Lynn, Lucas Giolito, Tim Anderson, Eloy Jimenez, and Luis Robert, but after a bad first half, the White Sox appear to be making some very important progress.
After a three-game sweep over the Detroit Tigers, the White Sox find themselves at three games over the .500 mark for the first time since April 17, when they were 6-3.

White Sox Making Progress
After having spent a decent amount of time under the .500 mark and heading into the Tigers series at .500, this is big for the defending AL Central champions.
This is a team that won 93 games last season and ran away with the AL Central title before being knocked out in the first round by the eventual AL champion Houston Astros.
There is still plenty of talent on this roster and they look like they still may have a run in them to capture yet another AL Central title and reach the postseason for the third straight season.
They have a big series coming up with the Astros, which starts tonight, so it’s a great opportunity for them to prove themselves and show that they can still beat good teams.
But any progress is important for them.
They’ve shown incremental progress thus far.
Now is a chance for them to make a huge statement against the best team in the American League.
