Without question, the NFL remains the undisputed top tier of football.
However, its teams acquire players through a number of means.
The most popular of which is the annual rookie draft that goes through seven rounds.
Meanwhile, those who didn’t hear their names called could try out for any team and eventually sign a contract.
Some teams also sign undrafted free agents for their practice squad in hopes of training them to become roster players.
Now, other minor leagues can also provide an avenue for athletes to realize their dream of playing in the NFL.
There’s the XFL, which will re-open in 2023 and is given prominence by actor and entrepreneur Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
On the other hand, the United States Football League is owned by FOX Sports and Brian Woods.
They revived the USFL last year and it’s doing fairly well in terms of bringing more players to the NFL.

The USFL’s official Twitter account announced that they have had 50 NFL signings.
That’s a great achievement for a league that only has eight teams with a 38-man active roster.
As the league notes, they are not done yet and more signings will come in succeeding years.
USFL Gears Up For 2023
NFL teams will be able to scout more talent as the USFL gears up for its 2023 season.
There will still be eight teams, with the North Division formed by the Michigan Panthers, New Jersey Generals, Philadelphia Stars, and Pittsburgh Maulers.
Meanwhile, the South Division consists of the Houston Gamblers, New Orleans Breakers, Tampa Bay Bandits, and reigning USFL champion Birmingham Stallions.
With the USFL planning to play in multiple hub cities, NFL scouts will have to visit more locations to find the talent that could help their squads.
