Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State headed the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Parade and Wreath Laying ceremony held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.
Together with Brigadier-General Adegoke Adetuyi, the Commander of the 9th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Governor Sanwo-Olu examined the guard of honor at the Ikeja cantonment. The purpose of the Monday, January 15, 2024 ceremony was to honor the Nigerian Armed Forces’ sacrifices.
Governor Sanwo-Olu laid a wreath at the ceremony as a mark of respect and remembering for the brave men and women who gave their lives in defense of the country.
Dignitaries such as the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin and the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, attended the sorrowful wreath-laying event.
Governor Sanwo-Olu celebrated the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day by releasing pigeons as a symbolic act in addition to the customary parade and wreath-laying.
Important individuals were present with the governor, including Oba of Lagos, High Chief Lateef Ajose, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and Oba of Lagos, Opeluwa Onido of Lagos.
Prominent military leaders like Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Yaro Abdullahi, Major General Muhammad Usman, Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan, and Brigadier-General Adegoke Adetuyi were present at the occasion.
