The baseball world was floored on Friday afternoon last week when it was revealed that Fernando Tatis Jr. would be suspended 80 games for testing positive for a banned substance.
The San Diego Padres‘ dreams of having him in the same lineup as Manny Machado, Juan Soto, and Josh Bell will have to wait a little while.
According to Padres insider Kevin Acee, Tatis plans to meet with his Padres teammates and team executives later this week to address the situation.
Padres ace Joe Musgrove shared his thoughts on the matter, saying that it was good that Tatis was planning to meet with the team and that it will be refreshing to hear the truth from him.
Joe Musgrove on Fernando Tatis Jr.’s planned meeting with teammates: “This is good. We deserve to hear from him and hear the truth of it from his mouth.”

Tatis, Padres Set To Meet
The Padres were clearly very disappointed in Tatis and his choice to take a banned substance.
First, Tatis broke his wrist in a motorcycle accident, which has kept him out the whole season.
Tatis was on a rehab assignment and looked to be close to making his return.
Then, the news broke of his suspension.
That’s some pretty inconvenient timing for the Padres, who were looking forward to having their superstar back in the lineup, especially now that Bell and Soto have joined the team.
But as Musgrove alluded to, it will be good for the Padres to hear Tatis’ point of view and for him to tell them the truth about what happened.
It gives him a chance to make things right with his teammates and the organization.
Now, it’s up to Tatis to make sure he says all the right things and makes it clear that he understands he made a mistake.
We’ll see how the Padres react to this meeting.
