Cyril Chidiebere, a businessman operating in Lekki, Lagos, was apprehended by the NDLEA along with his two freight agents, Mejabi Peter Sunday and Oyeyinka Babatunde.
They were arrested on Friday, April 14th, due to their participation in importing 6.50kg of Loud, a type of cannabis, contained in twelve (12) packages as part of consolidated cargo from the United States of America.
NDLEA released a statement confirming that the seizure and arrests were the results of a three-day operation that relied on intelligence gathering.
‘’Following the arrival of the cargo at the NAHCO import shed of the MMIA, its movement out of the airport was closely monitored in a sting operation until the actual importer, Cyril Chidiebere, was arrested in his house at Abraham Adesanya estate, Ajah, Lekki area of Lagos. Both Mejabi and Chidiebere have made useful statements to confirm that the latter has been involved in dealing on illicit drugs in the past.” the commission said.
