The Sacramento Kings have been on the outside looking in for years now.

They haven’t made the playoffs in nearly 20 years.

In fact, there is no active player who has gone against the Kings in the postseason, that’s how long it’s been since they were truly competitive.

Sacramento’s fanbase has been wanting and hoping for great things for years now and there are whispers and cautious hopes that good times are ahead.

The new season could indeed give us a Kings team that is young, promising, and up-and-coming.

Brett Siegel is sharing the excitement of other fans:

“I know it is crazy to say, but don’t sleep on the Sacramento Kings this upcoming year,” Siegel said on Twitter.

He continued: “De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Keegan Murray, Harrison Barnes, Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter, Davion Mitchell…This team is going to be competitive, especially with Mike Brown as their HC!”

Siegel is right: the Kings have a lot of really great players and their chances are better than ever.

Tale As Old As Time

Fans of the Kings have been here before: they have been excited for a new season with hopes of things turning around for their squad.

Yet, again and again, the Kings have come up incredibly short.

What makes this year so different?

It’s not just the talent on the floor, it’s the fact that the coaching staff has also been radically transformed with Brown, one of the most respected coaches in the league, taking control of the troubled team.

Brown’s hiring, along with a few great acquisitions during free agency, is making the Kings look quite good.

Fans shouldn’t expect a Finals run right away but Sacramento really could become something special after years of being utterly forgettable.
