My Dowry Stands At 1 Billion Shillings Ssaru Announces

Kenyan rapper Ssaru, renowned for her hit track “Kaskie Vibaya,” recently opened up about her burgeoning career, experiences with criticism, and her lighthearted yet ambitious dowry expectations. Ahead of her performance at TRM, the artist engaged with various bloggers in an interview that delved into the music industry, her personal journey, and her unique take on future marital plans.

In a video shared on Plug TV, Ssaru reflected on her career’s upward trajectory and acknowledged the criticism some of her songs have faced from certain quarters in Kenya.

Undeterred by naysayers, she expressed gratitude for the support of her fans, saying, “At the end of the day, the goal was to achieve this goal. Mafans wanatukalia ngumu bana,” emphasizing the challenges faced in the industry to impress fans.

She shared her intentions with her current partner, saying, “Let me tell you, I want to tell my current bae, but of course, I don’t want to get married right now. I want to wait a couple of years. But every year the amount increases, it’s like a billion shillings.”

Comparing her dowry worth to that of fellow artist Khaligraph Jones’ home, which he claimed to have spent a billion on, Ssaru argues, “If you can spend that much on a house. Sasa kulipia msee ka mimi billioni pia ni tatizo.”

The rapper playfully claimed her value increases every day, bragging, “I bring the table. Let me just tell you, I am not just a table, I am a full dining set. In fact, I am the food that you are going to dine on in that dining set!”
