Unsurprisingly, Kylian Mbappe is one of five players to share the highest rating on FIFA 23, but that wasn’t always the case.
The Frenchman has enjoyed the most meteoric of rises over the past few seasons, exploding from relative obscurity to become one of the most recognisable faces in global sport, and he’s still only 23 years old.
Here’s a look back at all Mbappe’s full FIFA ratings history.
The FIFA community were introduced to a young Mbappe in FIFA 17, when his non-rare, 71-rated silver card was barely even worth acknowledging.
He’d go on to score 15 goals and add 11 assists to fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title, earning himself an 89 overall Team of the Season card in the process.
There was no way Mbappe wasn’t getting a massive upgrade in FIFA 18. He joined PSG on loan in the summer before the game was released, in a deal which would eventually be made permanent for around €180m.
His 83 rating was more than fair and his club form would earn him another TOTS, this time a 93, while his exploits at the World Cup with France would see him earn a 97-rated special card.
The ascension continued in FIFA 19 as Mbappe began the game as an 87 overall RW. A winter upgrade to 88 followed but the special cards soon took him flying up from there.
His pick of the bunch was his 96 TOTS at ST which boasted 99 pace, 95 shooting and 95 dribbling.
Now firmly recognised as a striker, Mbappe was 89 overall to kick off FIFA 20.
For the first time ever, Mbappe made it into this year’s Team of the Year, earning a 98-rated card for his troubles, before picking up a TOTS that shared the same rating but boasted marginally better stats.
The upgrade train continued to roll on for Mbappe, who jumped up +1 to secure his first 90 base rating.
There were only five cards better than his this year, but after earning himself another set of TOTS and TOTY cards, it wouldn’t stay that way for long.
Now the third-highest rated player in the game, Mbappe added another +1 boost in FIFA 22 up to 91.
PSG teammate Neymar shared the same rating and Lionel Messi was still two clear at 93, but Mbappe wouldn’t have to wait long to get to the top.
For the first time in his career, Mbappe’s base card did not receive an upgrade as he retained his 91 rating for FIFA 23.
His base card has +1 shooting compared to FIFA 22, as well as -1 physical.
