King Charles III displayed yet another flash of anger over … well, another pen.
The new monarch, who had just received a warm welcome from crowds in Belfast, was visiting the royal residence of Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland on Tuesday when his latest snafu occurred.
In an instantly viral video, Charles, 73, admitted he wrote the incorrect date — scribbling Sept. 12 instead of the 13th — before passing the pen to his wife, Queen Consort Camilla.
As he handed off the offending writing instrument, the king realized it was leaking.
“Oh, God, I hate …” he began before Camilla, 75, interrupted him to note that the ink was “going everywhere.”
Another pen was swiftly brought over to Camilla, who calmly signed the book while her husband raged in the background.
“Can’t bear this bloody thing,” he seethed while furiously wiping away black ink with a handkerchief. “Every stinking time.”
Just three days earlier, Charles was filmed angrily gesturing to have royal aides clear the desk where he was about to sign the Accession Proclamation, which officially made him the monarch of the UK and Commonwealth following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The objects that he wanted to be removed consisted of a pen box and an inkwell, both of which had reportedly been presents from his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Twitter users immediately had a field day with Saturday’s tantrum.
“The servant must clear my desk for me. I can’t be expected to move things,” one person who was watching the live broadcast joked on Twitter, while another added, “First day on the job and already he’s fed up. LOL.”
The Queen died on Sept. 8 at the age of 96.
Her passing concluded the longest reign of a single monarch in Britain’s history, having celebrated seven decades on the throne. Her Platinum Jubilee took place in June.
