Chelsea set to miss out on Michael Olise’s deal

Chelsea Football Club might miss out on signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace for the second season in a row despite meeting his release clause.

The Blues have not hidden their interest in bringing the midfielder back to Stamford Bridge since he left the club as an Academy graduate. Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his X account on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

The Italian confirmed that Palace are ready to offer a new contract to Olise, which will see him earn more than what he currently receives and a release clause set for 2025. However, it is believed that Chelsea are not ready to back down on the deal as they will speak with Olise to agree on personal terms with the player, who is reportedly keen on joining the Blues.

There are rumours that Chelsea are looking to bring in a player-plus-cash deal to make a transfer happen as they look to strengthen their squad going into the 2024/25 season. However, Newcastle and Bayern Munich are keeping close tabs on the situation as they are also interested in Olise.

Olise has been a key part of Palace’s success in the past two seasons, having scored 14 goals in 82 league appearances for the Eagles.
