Genoa stage stunning comeback to win Lecce 2-1

Genoa picked a 2-1 comeback win against Lecce, courtesy of Caleb Ekuban’s stunning volley that stole the show in the Serie A clash.

After a six-round unbeaten run, Genoa found themselves in a midtable position and were determined to continue their positive momentum.

Having missed key players due to bans and injuries, they faced a tough challenge against Lecce, who were also looking to climb the table.

The match started with early opportunities for both teams, but it was Lecce who had the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot.

However, Nikola Krstovic’s lack of confidence showed as his attempt was saved by Genoa’s goalkeeper, Josep Martinez.

Despite this setback, Lecce managed to break the deadlock with Krstovic’s deflected shot finding the back of the net.

Genoa responded strongly in the second half, with Ruslan Malinovskyi’s effort hitting the woodwork.

The turning point came when Albert Gudmundsson’s free-kick struck the crossbar and Mateo Retegui capitalized on the rebound to equalize for Genoa.

Moments later, Caleb Ekuban sealed the comeback with a spectacular acrobatic volley, leaving Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone with no chance.

Although Lecce mounted pressure to find an equalizer, Genoa held on to claim all three points in the match.
