At the late hours of Thursday 7th of July, an eye witness reported a sad incidence which occurred on Elegushi private beach.
According to the eye witnesses, the victim was not looking himself and it felt like he was under a spell to jump into any wavy water he came across cause the incident happened like a flash.
According to an eye witness,
A man who was said to be a staff of a construction company in charge of erecting a building inside the beach was said to have arrived the beach with his friend.
The victim was said to have been high on some sort of drug and on getting to the beach entrance, he dropped his bag while been attended to by a ticket representative and the started running towards the ocean.
“At first, the ticket official thought he was trying to evade paying the entrance fee until his colleague started chasing after him alongside some security and life guard personnel on the beach till he jumped into the ocean.
The search for him continued for over two hours and it was the concluded that if he was still alive, there is no way he wouldn’t have floated to catch his breath.”
The remains of the 28-year-old man Sodiq Aremu, who jumped into the ocean and drowned was recovered and evacuated into the morgue on Sunday.
Sodiq aremu, a native of the Ona Ora area, Oyo was last seen alive on Thursday, July 7, when he suddenly dropped his bag and jumped into the beach.
“With a heavy heart, we regret the unfortunate incident that occurred on our beach recently.
The management have been up and running ever since it happened and we have made sure we put all necessary measures to ensure we do not experience such unfortunate incident again.
In as much as the incident happened due to the carelessness and negligence of the victims, we take full responsibility for the lost life and we pray he rests in peace.
Our prayers are with his family and friends in this trying time. “
However, Naijaloaded put a call through to the beach management and we were told that they have the issue under their control.
We were told by our contact person, Mr Lateef Elegushi that the deceased have been buried according to the normal rites and every other thing have been put in place.
He further warned that we we advise beach lovers to always watchout for beach warning signs and also read more on the warning boards provided at the beach.
He promised that the beach will keep improving in their services and also try much better to make the beach a safer and better place for all guests.
