Davido Early Life

Davido was born in Atlanta, Georgia on November 21, 1992, to Nigerian billionaire businessman Chief Adedeji Adeleke and his wife, university lecturer Dr. Veronica Adeleke.

He is the third child born to his parents. He has an older brother named Adewale Adedeji as well as two sisters named Sharon and Ashley Coco. 2003 saw the passing of his mother.

Adeleke University was founded by his father, who also serves as the CEO of Pacific Holdings. On the board of directors of his father’s business are Davido and his siblings.

Davido attended ‘The British International School,’ a private school in Lagos. He began making music when he was 11 years old.

According to him, he inherited his mother’s love of entertaining others, hence he credits her as the inspiration for his musical journey.

He enrolled at ‘Oakwood University,’ in Alabama, to pursue a degree in business administration. He had a strong interest in music while in university. He later dropped out to pursue music full-time. While at university, he was a member of the music group ‘KB International.’

He then travelled to London to improve his vocals. Davido returned to Nigeria in 2011 and, on the advice of his father, enrolled at Babcock University, where he graduated with a degree in music in 2015.

Career

‘Dami Duro‘ was released by Davido on October 30, 2011. The song was co-produced by Dami Duro and Shizzi and video shot by Clearance Peters.

Later, the song became a hit in Nigeria and was played on practically all media outlets, catapulting Davido to fame.

The HKN Music Record Label released Davido’s debut album, Omo Baba Olowo (Child of a Wealthy Person), in 2012.

On Omo Baba Olowo, guests included Sina Rambo, Ice Prince, Kay Switch, B-Red, 2 Face, and Naeto C.

He signed a record deal with “Sony Music” in 2016. Following that, he started his own record label, called “DMW – Davido Music Worldwide.”
