The D’Amelios are heading to the ballroom!
“Dancing With the Stars” announced TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and her mother, Heidi D’Amelio, as its first official contestants for Season 31 on “Good Morning America” Wednesday.
Charli, 18, and Heidi, 50, will make “DWTS” history as the first family members to compete against each other.
“It would be nice to have some smack talk, but she is also still my mother,” quipped the influencer, who has over 146 million followers on TikTok, adding that she hopes to include “a nod” to her viral online dances in her choreography on the show.
The full list of celebrities and their pro partners vying for the mirrorball trophy will be announced Thursday on “GMA” before Season 31 kicks off Sept. 19 on Disney+.
Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli will all be back as judges this year, with Season 19 champ Alfonso Ribeiro joining Tyra Banks as co-host.
A number of other pro dancers have already confirmed their casting via social media, including Peta Murgatroyd, Artem Chigvintsev, Cheryl Burke, Gleb Savchenko, Britt Stewart, Alan Bersten and reigning mirrorball champion Daniella Karagach.
Meanwhile, new mom Sharna Burgess — who gave birth to her first child, son Zane, with Brian Austin Green in late June — will be taking this season off as a pro to spend time with her newborn.
“I’m a full-time breastfeeding mama. And not only that, I just am so in love with being a mom,” she explained. “As much as it was hard to say no to ‘Dancing’ … I have this family and this newborn at home that I may never get these moments back [with].”
Lindsay Arnold also confirmed via Instagram that she will not be returning for the new season, telling fans in part, “This has been one of the hardest decisions to make but ultimately I have chosen what I feel is best for myself and my family.”
She continued, “’DWTS’ has been a part of my life for over 10 years now and when I say I love the show with all of my heart I mean it!! This show has changed my life forever and will always mean the world to me.”
