“Love Island USA” castoffs Chazz Bryant and Bella Barbaro are sharing different takes on their secret post-show hookup in exclusive interviews with Page Six.
“We did have contact after the villa,” says Bryant, revealing that he kissed Barbaro in his hotel room the night they were both dumped from the Peacock reality series.
The interaction came during a movie night with fellow Islander Chanse Corbi, who was just inches away from the pair as they smooched in bed.
Corbi kept herself occupied watching “The Butterfly Effect,” Ashton Kutcher’s notably un-sexy psychological thriller from 2004.
“I’m a great third wheel, so I was just there supporting them,” Corbi says with a laugh. “I was like, ‘You guys have a great life! I’ll just play a movie and chill out.’”
Corbi’s presence certainly didn’t bother Bryant.
“I did have a connection with Bella, which was obvious,” he continues. “We actually still felt comfortable with each other enough to kiss each other and kind of be on that same level we were at when we were in the villa.”
Bryant and Barbaro technically exited “Love Island USA” together. But their relationship had taken a hit due to Bryant’s interest in Barbaro’s best friend, Phoebe Siegel — whom he pursued only to realize he wanted to remain in a couple with Barbaro.
However, by that time, the singer-songwriter expressed her desire to move on from Bryant and began cracking on with newcomer Joel Bierwert.
Barbaro’s fan-voted departure ultimately left the hunky bodbybuilder in tears — and the Casa Amor bombshell looking for consolation outside of the show.
“I’m getting out of this, it’s a whirlwind of emotions I’m feeling. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I just got sent home. Why did I get sent home? This is nuts. Does America not like me and that’s why I got sent home, too?’” she recounts, adding that Bryant’s affections made her feel better in the moment.
“He’s like, ‘Yeah, so she wasn’t missing Joel too much.’ I definitely was, but I needed comfort and to not be alone and to not be like, ‘Oh my God, I’m going back to being isolated and going home alone.’ It was a lot to process.”
While Bryant believes his connection with Barbaro “isn’t severed” after kissing off-camera, the latter hasn’t seen a significant effort made to pursue her in the days since.
“I actually have not heard from Chazz at all. So I was very shocked when he said, ‘Oh yeah, there’s still a chance for me and Bella,’ sort of thing,” she tells us. “And I was just like, ‘I haven’t even heard from you. So how can there be a chance when we haven’t even spoken, sir?’”
Barbaro has since checked in on Bryant via text, though conversations about reigniting their romance seem unlikely.
“I have nothing but love and respect for him. I definitely was very attracted to him and we got along very well but I think at the end of the day, I feel like we’re friends,” she says.
“That’s what I feel in my heart and I know that’s so f—ked up for me to just friend-zone him like that. But that’s just how I’m feeling.”
Meanwhile, Bryant is hopeful he and Barbaro might meet up for a Tri-State Area date as he lives in New Jersey and she resides in Long Island.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if we hang out outside of the villa in New York because we’re not too far from each other. So, a date might be in the future,” he says.
“I can’t say for sure, but I don’t see why not.”
Barbaro isn’t holding her breath.
“It’s not going to mess with my sleep if he doesn’t reach out,” she asserts. “That’s all I have to say.”
“Love Island USA” — hosted by Sarah Hyland — is available to stream on Peacock. New episodes drop Tuesday through Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
