The Los Angeles Dodgers, to the surprise of many, did not address their starting pitching at the trade deadline.
Their only noteworthy move was acquiring Joey Gallo from the New York Yankees.
But they may be getting some pitching reinforcements soon.
Dustin May, who has been out all season long recovering from Tommy John surgery, seems to be close to returning from the injured list.
He had a solid night last night with the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Dodgers, going five innings and allowing just one run while striking out 10 batters.
He posted a 1.89 ERA with Oklahoma City in five starts with 33 strikeouts in 19 innings.
Dodgers insider Blake Harris seems to think May is ready.

Big Red Close To Returning
May is one of the top young pitchers in the Dodgers system.
If they can get him back and healthy, then their rotation will gain a key arm for the stretch run.
They’re currently without Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler.
It would be most beneficial for them to have May back and slot him next to Tyler Anderson, Julio Urias, and Tony Gonsolin in their rotation, especially with there being a ton of question marks surrounding Buehler and whether or not he’ll return this year.
May went 1-1 with a 2.74 ERA in five starts a season ago before the injury.
The right-hander was a third-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2016 and made his debut in 2019.
His stats during his rehab stint should be encouraging for the Dodgers, who again, are a little short on pitching.
May would be a huge addition to a team that needs some pitching reinforcements and could help provide some innings while they wait on Buehler and Kershaw to come back.
