The two Grammy award-winning Nigerian singers, Wizkid and Tems have been recognized as the first African recipients of the iHeartRadio Titanium Award.
The iHeartRadio Titanium Award is bestowed upon artists whose songs have amassed 1 billion spins across iHeartRadio stations in the United States.
Wizkid and Tems earned this prestigious accolade for their hit track ‘Essence,’ which garnered 1 billion spins across iHeartRadio stations.
Muyiwa Awoniyi, Tems’ manager, made the announcement via a video clip of the award on his Instastory.
It’s worth noting that the song initially featured on Wizkid’s fourth studio album, ‘Made In Lagos,’ and gained popularity on American mainstream radio following the release of a remix version featuring Canadian singer Justin Bieber in 2021.
