Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has explained why his team defeated Chelsea in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie at Stamford Bridge.
Ancelotti said Real Madrid won Chelsea 3-1 because the Los Blancos played better against Thomas Tuchel’s men, adding that they were dangerous against the host.
Three goals from Karim Benzema ensured Real Madrid defeated Chelsea in front of their home fans in England.
“We played better this night, we played a good game and deserved to win,” the Italian told belN SPORTS after the game.
“We have another 90 minutes… We have to be careful because Chelsea are a good team and winner of [last season’s] Champions League.
“I am happy with the performance. We planned to adopt from the back, find space between lines and attack the three backs and we were really dangerous.”
Real Madrid will host Chelsea in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
