Why Ten Hag will be absent from touchline during Manchester United’s test against Everton

Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag will be absent from the touchline during the Sunday clash with Everton at Goodison Park.

The unexpected absence is a result of a new Premier League rule that imposes a one-match touchline ban for a manager accumulating three yellow cards in a season.

Ten Hag incurred his third yellow during United’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Luton just before the international break.

The incident occurred when a throw-in decision was overturned in the second half, causing frustration from the Dutchman.

In response to the ban, Ten Hag did not question the situation, acknowledging that the rule change caught him off guard.

“It’s not nice, but I’m sure we’ll prepare for Everton, and my coaching staff will take over; they are very competent to do the job.”
