In response to an inquiry from a fan on X, Nicki disclosed that she invited Davido to participate in the track to infuse it with a genuine Afrobeats sound.
She commended Davido’s abilities as a songwriter and melody creator, emphasizing the mutual admiration they hold for one another. Nicki articulated that his involvement was crucial in capturing the true spirit of Afrobeats and promoting Nigerian music on an international platform.
“If It’s Okay” is included in the special 10th-anniversary edition of Nicki Minaj’s landmark album The Pinkprint. This commemorative release features four new tracks, showcasing collaborations with artists such as Swae Lee, David Guetta, Davido, and the late Juice WRLD.
This project also signifies a reunion for Nicki and Davido, who had previously collaborated on the song “Holy Ground” from Davido’s 2020 album A Better Time.
