President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized the need for unity in order to stabilize the nation, asserting that he is the leader of all Nigerians regardless of the political party they supported in the 2023 presidential election.
According to a statement by Dele Alake, Tinubu’s special adviser on special duties, the president made these remarks during a discussion with the Nigerian diasporan community in France. Tinubu had recently traveled to France for a two-day business meeting.
Tinubu expressed his commitment to advancing the prosperity of Nigerians and working in their best interests. He emphasized the importance of promoting unity and stability for all citizens, irrespective of their voting preferences.
He stated, “We must promote unity and stability for all. Whether you voted for me during the elections, or not, I am your President. I will work on your behalf to ensure a turning point of prosperity.”
Regarding his decision to swiftly remove fuel subsidy, the president explained, “We have transport challenges, electricity challenges, infrastructural challenges and others. I let out the giant elephant of fuel subsidy without bringing down the house.”
