“We’re building, give us time” – Pochettino after Chelsea win against Middlesbrough

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has called on the club supporters to give the team time to show their full potentials.

The Blues on Tuesday set a new record for the biggest English League Cup (Carabao Cup) semi-final second-leg victory since 2001, after beating Middlesbrough 6-1.

Pochettino’s men came into the game trailing from the first leg but left no room for doubt with a clinical display at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, in a post-match interview, the Argentine emphasized the need for fans to be patient and support them in raising the bar at the club.

“We are doing fantastic. I can’t complain, only the people need to believe and trust us.

“We are young, we need to grow. The mentality is very good, just give us time. We’re building a new project, we are improving. I’m happy, really,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.

Chelsea set the tone early in the match as Jonny Howson’s own goal put them ahead after just 15 minutes, followed by quickfire goals from Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi.

Cole Palmer also bagged a brace, and substitute Noni Madueke added to the tally, to qualify Chelsea for the Wembley finals.

They will now play the winners of the other semi-final clash between Liverpool and Fulham on February 25th.
