Real Madrid will be without Vinicius Junior for their final La Liga fixture of 2024 after he received a suspension during their 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
Vinicius, who started on the bench at Vallecas, was introduced in the second half but received a yellow card for dissent.
The booking triggered an automatic one-match suspension, ruling him out of next weekend’s clash against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The draw against Rayo was a frustrating setback for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who had initially trailed 2-0 before fighting back to level the score.
Despite their efforts, they missed the chance to maintain a gap over rivals Barcelona in the title race.
Losing Vinicius is a significant blow for Real Madrid, especially given his importance in the team’s attack.
However, the club could be bolstered by the return of Kylian Mbappé, who is expected to recover from injury in time for the crucial match.
