Vinicius Jr condemns racism in Spanish football, calls for strict sanctions after Sevilla incident

Real Madrid’s forward Vinicius Jr. has condemned racism in Spanish football after another incident of racist abuse directed at him.

In a statement, Vinicius Jr. congratulated Sevilla for picking a point in their match against his team on Saturday. The jaw-dropping encounter ended 1-1 at the Estadio R. Sanchez Pizjuan.

He went on to express his disappointment at the racist incident that occurred during the game.

He said, “Congratulations to Sevilla on the quick positioning and penalty in another sad episode for Spanish football.”

Vinicius Jr. also revealed that he had access to a video of another racist incident that took place during the game, this time carried out by a child.

He expressed his sadness at the lack of education around racism in Spanish football, revealing how much he has invested in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes.

The Brazilian forward called for Spanish authorities to change legislation and criminally punish those who engage in racist behaviour.

“Unfortunately I have access to a video of another racist at this Saturday’s game, this time carried out by a child. So sad there is no one to educate her. I invest a lot in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes.”

“The face of today’s racist is stamped on websites as like several other times. I hope Spanish authorities do their part and change legislation for once. These people need to be criminally punished too,”

Vinicius Jr. also suggested that tackling the case would go a long way in addressing issue of racism in the 2030 World Cup, especially as Spain is one of the host nations.

The incident is not the first time Vinicius Jr. Is suffering racial abuse during a match. According to the player, he has suffered such fate 10 times. “Sorry to sound repetitive, but it’s episode number 10. And counting…”
