With so many questions about Victor Osimhen’s future ahead of the 2024/25 season, reports now indicate that the forward might be poised for a move to the Saudi pro league.
Reports indicate that Saudi Pro League team Al-Ahli is ready to trigger the release clause of Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen for a summer move. Osimhen has attracted major interest from top European clubs. Still, Napoli will only sell if a club triggers his massive £120 million release clause, which has deterred Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
For Victor Osimhen who has had an impressive and successful campaign at Napoli in the 2022/2023 club football season and a mixed experience in the 2023/2024 season which led to his contract extension, the CAF African Footballer of the Year 2023 seems not to be in a hurry when it comes to making key decisions about his club football future.
Osimhen also confirmed this in a recent interview where he said, “The rumours are going round about me being linked with the Premier League. Of course, when you are one of the hottest strikers in the globe, you expect this type of thing. (The) EPL is one of the biggest and best league’s in the whole world.
“I’m at Napoli, I signed a new contract, I’m enjoying my time there, going through it with the team. At the end of the season, I’ve already made up my mind, I already know what I want to do with my career. I have my plan already for the next step I want to take.
“For now, I just want to finish the season strong and go relax somewhere with my daughter, think about my life and finally come out with the decision I’ve already made.”
Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli this summer, and according to Goal.com, Al-Ahli could be one of the potential destinations for the Nigerian striker, as the Saudi Arabian club is prepared to trigger his release clause. Despite this, Napoli might reduce the asking price for any interested club this summer.
While Al-Ahli is willing to meet the fee for Osimhen, the striker has not yet agreed to sign for the club. At this early stage of his career, Osimhen may be reluctant to move to Saudi Arabia, but Napoli stands to benefit financially if they sell him sooner rather than later.
