USWNT to host Germany in two November friendlies

The U.S. women’s national team will host Germany in a pair of friendlies this November.

The teams will come face to face with the Euro 2022 runner-up on November 10 at DRV PNK Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, before traveling to  Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. on  November 13.

“Playing Germany in the final matches of the year will be ideal for our World Cup preparations for all of our players and coaching staff, but it’s also fantastic for all the fans,” said U.S. head coach Vlatko Andonovski in a federation release.“USA – Germany is always one of the most entertaining match-ups in women’s international soccer and it’s a rivalry that has some wonderful history as well.”

The upcoming friendlies will see the two top teams in FIFA World rankings confront each other, as USWNT leads in first with Germany in second. Though every Women’s World Cup final has featured one of either the USWNT or Germany, the two have never actually met in a final.

It will be the first time the two countries play against one another since 2018, where the American side triumphed 1-0 in the SheBelieves Cup. The USWNT currently hold the edge historically, enjoying a 22W-4L-7D record against Germany.

The matches come after the USWNT travels to Europe to play against England and Spain in October.
