“Ur Papa” – Davido Reacts as Music Producer, Napji Called Him Out Over Alleged Unpaid Royalties

“I have never been arrested by anyone in any country” – Davido denies viral reports of being arrested in Kenya

Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, better known as Davido, became entangled in a spat with music producer Napji over supposed unpaid royalties.

The drama began on April 23rd, 2024, when Napji came to Instagram and X to accuse Davido of not paying him for his efforts on the track “Fem,” “Jowo,” and “Sunlight” from the 2020 album “A Better Time.”

Napji claimed that he had only got an advance of N500k for each song, totaling N1.5 million.

However, he reaffirmed his rights to revenues and publication credits, targeting his demands directly at Davido by naming him in the Instagram post.

He promised to offer additional information as he pursued what he felt was owed to him in terms of compensation.

He wrote:

“I am Napji, producer behind Fem, Jowo and sunlight on @davido album (A better time). Which was released 13th November 2020.”

“I was paid an advance of 500 thousand naira for each of the songs. I will be releasing more information as I seek to collect my royalties & publishing”.

Upon seeing Napji’s public call-out, Davido swiftly responded on his verified Instagram and Twitter accounts with a curt dismissal, simply stating,

“Ur Papa.”
