Two Men Arrested For Raping A Mentally-Challenged Woman In Adamawa

Two suspects have been detained by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly raping a mentally ill woman in the state’s Song Local Government Area.
The suspects, Kwallan John and Imamu Abdurrahman, were reportedly taken into custody last Sunday, according to a statement made by the command’s spokeswoman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Friday, June 24.

“On 19/6/2022 apprehended two suspects for criminal conspiracy and rape of a 35 years old victim of unsound mind a resident of Dirma village Dumne, Song local government area,”the PPRO stated.

“The suspects one Kwallan John 23 years old and Imamu Abdulrahman 21years old all resident of Dirma village in Song local government area, conspired and took the victim to an uncompleted building and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her”

“The suspects were apprehended by the police in Dumne Divisional headquarters, following report received from one Simon D. Adamu, a community member.”

The victim’s mental illness was used by the suspects, according to the investigation to date, the spokeswoman added.

Secretive investigations into the crimes and the start of the prosecution of the accused have been ordered by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Akande.
