South Africa secured their spot in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group E, after a goalless draw with Tunisia.
Although the Bafana Bafana side started slow in the tournament, they succeeded in advancing in the knockout stage, edging past Namibia who finished 3rd with the same point.
Tunisia on the other hand, had the worse outing in the group.
They recorded no win, picking only two points in three games, drawing against Mali in their second group stage match, after losing the first against Namibia.
South Africa have now joined group leaders Mali, who also played out a goalless draw against Namibia in the Wednesday evening clash, while Namibia’s hopes hang in the balance.
The AFCON round of 16 will begin on Saturday, as Nigeria’s Super Eagles prepare to face the indomitable Lions of Cameroon by 9:00 PM.
