The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the tragic and sudden death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bolaji Olugbenga, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijanikin Police Station.
According to reports, CSP Olugbenga collapsed unexpectedly in his office on Thursday evening and was later pronounced dead.
The Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Benjamin Hundeyin, addressed the incident during a press briefing on Friday night.
While specific details regarding the circumstances of the officer’s death were not provided, SP Hundeyin confirmed the unfortunate loss but refrained from commenting further on the ongoing investigation.
Eyewitness reports indicate that CSP Olugbenga collapsed at his desk and passed away before he could be rushed to a nearby hospital for medical assistance. His sudden demise has left officers and staff at the Ijanikin Police Station in deep mourning, as he was well-respected within the force.
A source from the station revealed that the officer’s body has been transferred to a mortuary, while the police and medical personnel work to determine the cause of death.
CSP Bolaji Olugbenga was known for his dedication and leadership in the Ijanikin division, and his passing has sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues and friends within the Lagos Police Command.
