“American Japa” tells the story of sex workers who aspire to move to the United States in search of better opportunities.
The term “Japa” comes from Yoruba and means “to escape,” referring to Nigerians leaving their country for economic chances.
The movie features several well-known Nollywood actors like Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, Kanayo O Kanayo, Bolanle Ninalowo, Segun Arinze, and Yemi Blaq.
Other actors in the film are Ronke Oshodi Oke, Jide Kosoko, Wumi Toriola, Jumoke Odetola, Tina Amuziam, Lizzy Jay, Shirley Igwe, and Tommy Roland.
American Japa’ is a project from Atlantic World Digital Communications. It was produced by Abulu, a producer originally from Nigeria and now in the US, with Angel Ufuoma as the co-producer.
