Tottenham are close to agreeing personal terms with Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, who is also on Manchester United’s radar.
The London club entered the market for an elite goalkeeper after Hugo Lloris who had an awful season, made clear his intentions to leave the club.
Raya, who is highly touted for his shot-stopping ability, is also confident and silky smooth with the ball at his feet, precisely the type of keeper Tottenham’s new coach, Ange Postecoglou desires.
Brentford is asking for £40 million for the 27-year-old goalkeeper. Spurs unsurprisingly don’t agree with Brentford’s valuation and will try to negotiate a lower price.
It remains to be seen if an agreement between Tottenham and Brentford will be reached. Manchester United and Chelsea are monitoring the situation.
Popular journalist, Fabrizio Romano reported that Spurs are nearing an agreement with Raya over personal terms, although they are yet to agree a fee with Brentford.
He tweeted;

The Bees have already signed Raya’s replacement, with Mark Flekken arriving from Freiburg, and are reportedly ready to go into the season with the pair.
Lloris who recently declared his desire to leave Tottenham after 11 years at the club told French newspaper Nice-Matin last week:
“We are coming to an important moment, whether for the club or for me. It’s the end of an era. I have desires for other things, I will ask myself quietly to study what will be possible.
“But I don’t forget that I still have a year of contract with Tottenham and that in football it is always difficult to predict what will happen. What is essential at the moment is to recover well from my injury. I’m on vacation but I continue to talk and do my training. My goal is to be on top in July, then we’ll see what the future holds.”
