Early Life & Education
Tomi Odunsi was born in South-west, Ogun State, Nigeria, on 24 May 1987. She is from the Yoruba tribe of southwest Nigeria.
She was born and raised in the western part of Nigeria with a love and passion for stage plays and general art performances.
Tomi Odunsi started her schooling life at a private school in Ogun State, Nigeria, and completed her primary education there. After that, he completed her high school at the same school.
She is an alumnus of the prestigious University of Lagos. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Linguistics and African Languages specializing in the Yoruba language.
Career
Tomi Odunsi started acting at the age of 17 and has now risen to become a popular actress, TV host, singer, and songwriter. She landed her first role in a television series called Tinsel after several auditions; she played the role of Salewa in the award-winning drama series.
Her career took off from the drama series as she went ahead to feature in a Nollywood movie entitled Render to Caesar, which featured other actors and actresses such as Omoni Oboli, Kalu Ikeagwu, Wole Ojo, and Kehinde Bankole.
She is also known for her feature in an interesting documentary called Runs: A Docudrama. Runs: A Docudrama is a drama mainly focused on six women from different backgrounds who share their experiences with student/child prostitution. The documentary was directed by the renowned Benedict Alli and featured other stars such as Stephanie Linus, Ireti Doyle, and Onyeka Onwenu.
Tomi Odunsi also works as a songwriter and has several music tracks to her credit. Her first single, titled I wan Blow, was released in April 2013. She performed the song to a crowd at the Oriental Hotel in August 2013. Then she released an R&B single under the CGT (City of Great Talents) Record label, a label she was signed to.
In addition, she has done some track collaborations with spectacular artists such as; Omawumi, Beverly Naya, and Bryan Okwara. The Ogun State-born singer also has another single titled Mama Say to Her record, including an EP titled Santa Cruise. In 2013, the Nigerian star released a singing titled Papi, where she sang about the #ChildNotBride predicament.
Other music credits to her are songs that she either produced for a TV show or a movie, and they include; The Magic 2013 Christmas Song – AfricaMagic’s Official Christmas Theme Song, In the Music Movie soundtrack, Moments with Mo soundtrack, Urban Lounge TV show theme song – MBC TV, and so on.
Tomi Odunsi also performed in several stages of musicals such as; Oluronbi: The Musical 1,2 & 3 – 2010 Aboriginal Productions, Fractures – 2017 Aboriginal Productions, Rubiewe: The African ‘Beauty & The Beast Cup – 2012 Paws Productions, Saro: The Musical – 2017, and TerraKulture BAP Productions.
The fast-rising acts are also the CEO and founder of CGT Media Ltd. CGT Media is a fast-rising African entertainment and media company. In 2015, she hosted the Rhythm N’ Play event.
The event even had the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan subsequently honored Tomi Odunsi as an ambassador of music and career alongside other top artists such as Ice Prince and MI Abaga.
In 2017, the singer and actress Tomi Odunsi was nominated for Most Promising Act to Watch by the Nigeria Entertainment Award.
