President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the National Assembly complex in preparation for the 2024 budget presentation.
Under strict security, the President arrived at the N’Assembly on Wednesday at precisely 11:04 am. The N27.5 trillion 2024 Appropriations Bill was approved by the Federal Executive Council on Monday. Compared to the N26.01tn that the council had previously considered, this represents an increase.
The 2024–2026 MTEF and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which suggested N26.1tn as the total expenditure profile for the 2024 fiscal year, were forwarded by Tinubu to both chambers of the National Assembly three weeks before to the budget presentation.
Following two weeks of interactive sessions with the heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies regarding the revenue and expenditure projections prepared for them, the Senate, acting through its Committee on Finance, adopted the MTEF.
It specifically accepted the N26.1tn budget for 2024 as well as other President-proposed guidelines.
