An Islamic Sharia Court in Ningi, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, which convicted three men guilty of homosexuality, condemned them to death by stoning, including a 70-year-old.
The trial for the prisoners, whose names were Abdullahi Beti (30), Kamilu Ya’u (20), and Mal. Haruna (70), commenced on June 14, 2022, following their detention by Hisbah Vanguard members operating in Ningi LGA under the guise of Adamu Dan Kafi.
According to reports, they admitted guilt to the accusations leveled against them. Trial judge Munka’ilu Sabo-Ningi condemned the defendants to death by stoning after hearing the testimony of the witnesses and their admission of guilt.
He based the judgement on provisions of Section 134 of the Bauchi State Penal law of 2001 as well as the provisions of Fiquhussunah Jizu’i number 2 at page 362.
