Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel revealed his disappointment with his team’s body language after conceding sloppy goals against Leeds during a shock 3-0 Premier League defeat, comparing the performance to last weekend’s spirited fightback against Tottenham.
The Blues found themselves 2-0 down at the interval at Elland Road as a result of quickfire goals from Brenden Aaronson and Rodrigo Moreno in the closing stages of the first half.
Jack Harrison gave Leeds a third goal midway through the second half, before Kalidou Kouliably was eventually sent off shortly before the end after picking up a second yellow cards.
Tuchel insists Chelsea had been good enough in the opening half hour to be two goals ahead themselves, only to then allow Leeds to go into the lead and extend it.
“We gave away an own goal and then we concede from a set piece. We were able to cope with their style, be the better team, be two goals ahead. But then we give two goals away and then the belief and body language was not like it was in the last match,” the Chelsea boss said afterwards.
“Everything was going well and I still believe we can win with this team in Leeds. I think it’s more our fault than anybody else’s credit.
“For me the story, is that we were not all over the place. With the ball we were not sharp enough. Against the ball we were fine. A set-piece and an own goal tell the story today.”
