Harry Kane has called for resilience and focus from his Bayern Munich team-mates after a costly miss in their 2-1 Champions League defeat to Inter Milan.
The quarter-final first-leg at the Allianz Arena offered a prime opportunity for the England captain to put Bayern ahead in the first half, but his curling effort hit the post and went out for a goal kick.
It was an uncharacteristic miss for the prolific striker, known for his lethal finishing.
Bayern were soon punished for the missed chance, conceding two second-half goals that leave them trailing going into the return leg at the San Siro.
Despite the setback, Kane has urged his side to keep their heads up, taking to Instagram to issue a rallying cry:
“A disappointing result last night but lots of good things we can take from the game. Tie isn’t over! All to play for next week.”
With 34 goals to his name this season, including 10 in the Champions League, Kane will need to deliver a memorable performance in Italy if Bayern are to turn the tie around and secure a spot in the semi-finals.
