Barcelona announced the arrival of Hansi Flick on its official website on Thursday, May 29, 2024, according to the club, the German signed a two-year-deal which will keep him at Barcelona until the summer of 2026.
Here are six things you need to know about Hansi Flick
(1) Hansi Flick is the third German manager to coach Barcelona after Weisweiler whi managed Barcelona from 1975 to 1976 and Udo Lattek from 1981 to 1983.
(2) He is the one of two managers in the world to have won a sextuple, a feat he achieved in 2020, only Pep Guardiola has also achieved the same record.
(3) The German was born on February 24, 1965 in Heideberg which is just 340 km away from Munich were he played and coached before joining Barcelona.
(4) At the age of 20, he joined Bayern Munich where he went on to play more than 100 games in the Bundesliga winning four consecutive league titles.
(5) Flick’s career was cut by injury which made him retire at the age of 28. He went on to play 148 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich from 1985-1990 and with Koln from 1990-1992.
(6) This is the first time Flick would manage a team outside of Germany.
