- Skitmaker and activist Mr. Macaroni addressed Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, on social media, stating it has become a societal menace and requires regulation.
- Social media has become a significant societal issue that requires regulation.
Mr. Macaroni, a comedian and activist, has resorted to social media to criticize Femi Gbajabiamila, President Bola Tinubu’s chief of staff, for declaring on Thursday, February 8, that social media has turned into a threat to society and needs regulation.
Gbajabiamila made the following remarks at a book launch:
“Social media has become a societal menace and must be regulated. As many people do not understand that once the send button is hit, there is a potential to reach millions of people around the world which is capable of causing a great danger not just in the society but even unintended consequences to the individuals that are receiving information which may include security of life.”
Mr. Macaroni reacted by sharing tweets from Gbajabiamila from March 2014, in which he called the current government “Vagabonds” and “Barbarians.”
He questioned whether social media wasn’t a threat at the time when Gbajabiamila made such derogatory remarks about government officials.
